State of WoW Private Servers 2026

A snapshot of the 115 World of Warcraft private servers currently listed on DivineTop: which expansions they run, how many players their owners report, what rates and languages they use, whether their websites respond, and where community votes went over the last 30 days. The figures are pulled straight from our database and refreshed every hour. Please read the methodology before quoting them, especially the population numbers, which are reported by server owners and not measured by us.

Which expansions have the most servers?

Active listed servers by expansion (share of all listed servers)
  • WotLK has the most active listings: 53 servers (46.1%).
  • Vanilla, TBC and WotLK together account for 79 listings (68.7%). Cataclysm and later expansions account for the other 36 (31.3%).
  • No active listing currently runs The War Within.

How many players do servers report?

Server owners pick a player-count bracket when they list their server. We can't verify these numbers, so read them as each team's own estimate rather than a measured count.

Servers by reported population bracket (115 servers with a figure)
  • 0-10068 (59.1%)
  • 100-50030 (26.1%)
  • 500-1,0009 (7.8%)
  • 1,000-2,0004 (3.5%)
  • 2,000-5,0003 (2.6%)
  • 5,000+1 (0.9%)
  • The most common bracket is 0-100 players, chosen by 68 servers (59.1%).
  • 98 of 115 servers (85.2%) report fewer than 500 players, while 8 (7%) report 1,000 or more, including 1 in the 5,000+ bracket.

Cell shading shows each bracket's share within its expansion row. Expansions with only a few servers can swing a lot when one listing changes.

Largest servers by reported population

Servers in the highest reported brackets. Within a bracket, servers are ordered by weighted votes over the last 30 days and then alphabetically, not by size, because the brackets don't tell us which one is bigger.

PvP or PvE, blizzlike or boosted?

Realm types

Servers tagged with each realm type (a server can have several)
  • PvP is the most common tag, used by 72 servers (63.2% of servers with a realm type).
  • Servers can list more than one type, so the shares add up to more than 100%.

Experience rates

Servers by listed experience rate
  • 1x (blizzlike)39 (33.9%)
  • 2x-5x35 (30.4%)
  • 5x-10x13 (11.3%)
  • 10x-15x7 (6.1%)
  • 15x4 (3.5%)
  • Instant max level17 (14.8%)
  • 39 servers (33.9%) run blizzlike 1x rates and 76 (66.1%) run boosted rates, 17 of them with instant max level.

What languages do servers use?

Servers by main realm language
  • English104 (90.4%)
  • Russian7 (6.1%)
  • German2 (1.7%)
  • Spanish2 (1.7%)
  • English is the main language on 104 servers (90.4%).
  • Owners choose one main language per listing, so servers with mixed-language communities show up under whichever language they picked.

Development stage and website checks

Development stage

Servers by stage set on the listing
  • Released84 (73%)
  • Fresh launch16 (13.9%)
  • Beta4 (3.5%)
  • Alpha6 (5.2%)
  • Coming soon5 (4.3%)
  • 15 listed servers are still in alpha, beta or not yet launched (13%).

Website reachability

Result of the latest automated check of each server's website
  • Website responded112 (97.4%)
  • No response3 (2.6%)
  • Of the 115 websites we have checked, 112 (97.4%) responded the last time we tried and 3 did not.
  • This checks the server's website, not the game realm. A responding website doesn't prove the realm is up, and a timeout can be a temporary hiccup.
  • 21 servers are marked closed. Closed servers keep their pages on DivineTop but are excluded from every other figure in this report.

Where did the votes go?

  • Players cast 44 votes for listed servers in the last 30 days, worth 26.4 after weighting, spread across 13 servers(11.3% of listings).
  • The most-voted server, Warcrown - WotLK Classic 3.4.4, received 36.4% of all weighted votes.
  • Players have written 1 review of listed servers; 1 server has at least one (0.9%), and the average rating is 5 out of 5.

Most-voted servers, last 30 days

Votes measure how actively a server's community votes on DivineTop, not how many people play there. For the combined ranking see the best WoW private servers.

When did these servers launch?

Servers by stated launch year (115 servers with a year)
  • 20102 (1.7%)
  • 20122 (1.7%)
  • 20132 (1.7%)
  • 20141 (0.9%)
  • 20151 (0.9%)
  • 20171 (0.9%)
  • 20181 (0.9%)
  • 20193 (2.6%)
  • 20209 (7.8%)
  • 202122 (19.1%)
  • 20228 (7%)
  • 202311 (9.6%)
  • 202421 (18.3%)
  • 202516 (13.9%)
  • 202615 (13%)
  • 2021 is the most common launch year, listed by 22 servers (19.1%).
  • 31 of 115 servers (27%) list 2025 or 2026 as their launch year.
  • The year is whatever the owner entered as "online since". Relaunches and fresh realms often list the relaunch year, so this undercounts how long some projects have been around.

Methodology

Sample. Every figure covers servers listed on DivineTop, not every WoW private server in existence. A server counts as an active listing when it has been approved, hasn't been removed and isn't marked closed. Servers that are pending review, paused, rejected or deleted are left out. If a popular server has never been listed here, it isn't in these numbers.

Population. Owners and our staff choose one of six brackets (0-100, 100-500, 500-1,000, 1,000-2,000, 2,000-5,000 and 5,000+) when a server is listed or updated. We don't measure player counts, and we have no way to confirm what a server reports. Treat the brackets as self-reported.

Website checks. An automated job requests each listed server's website over HTTP and records whether it responded, along with the time of the check. It doesn't connect to the game realm or log in. "Not checked yet" means the server has no recorded check. The most recent check in this data ran on September 30, 2026 at 23:00 UTC. 115 listed servers were checked in the last 7 days.

Votes. Vote counts come from individual votes cast on DivineTop in the last 30 days. Each person can vote once per server per day. Votes from logged-in users count as 1.0 and guest votes as 0.6, and votes are rate-limited per IP address. The "weighted" figures add up the weight stored with each vote. Votes show how engaged a community is on this site, not how many people play.

Other fields. Expansion, realm type, experience rate, language, development stage and launch year are all set by the server owner on the listing. Realm types are multi-select. Reviews count top-level player reviews only, not replies.

Freshness. The report is recomputed from the database at most once an hour. This version was generated on . Percentages are rounded to one decimal place, so they may not add up to exactly 100%.
