Mists of Pandaria Private Servers

Mists of Pandaria has only a handful of listed servers, but they are unusually healthy for a post-WotLK expansion: most report populations in the hundreds rather than the near-empty realms common on later expansions. The scene splits cleanly in two. On one side are 1x to 5x realms from established networks; on the other are x100 and instant-90 PvP realms, most of them tied to Russian-speaking communities.

The names you will recognize are all here. Tauri WoW is widely regarded as the best-scripted MoP realm and runs strict 1x; Helios-WoW from the TwinStar team is a 1x PvP realm; Warmane and Firestorm each run a 5x to 7x Pandaria realm inside their larger networks.

Ask yourself whether you are here for Throne of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar or for arenas. Raiders should favor 1x to 5x realms where boss scripting has had years of attention; the raids are the reason MoP has a reputation, and a broken encounter ruins it. PvP players can go straight to a x100 or instant-90 realm and be in a battleground within the hour.

Two things are specific to MoP. First, several servers run playerbots that fill dungeon, LFR and arena queues automatically, which makes the smaller realms far more playable solo. Second, not every server uses the standard 5.4.8 client: Tauri, for instance, uses its own client setup, so follow the instructions on its website before downloading a client.

The standard MoP client is 5.4.8 (build 18414); our MoP 5.4.8 client guide has the details. From 5.x onward there is no realmlist.wtf. Instead, open WTF/Config.wtf, find or add the line SET portal, and set it to the address the server gives you. Many MoP servers also provide a launcher that handles this and keeps the client patched.
